Scottish Country Dancing
Scottish Country Dancing is one of Scotland's best exports - what else gives food for the soul in its music, exercise for mind and body, social contact and fun- all in one activity!
The Guernsey group is affiliated to the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society whose headquarters are in Edinburgh. This is an international society with branches all over the World. It holds an annual summer school at St Andrews University & a winter school in Pitlochry, but there is also the opportunity to go to other residential weeks in Australia, New Zealand, USA & Canada & other workshops in many other countries including Japan & Russia!
There are also opportunities to travel to other groups to take part in workshops, weekend schools & Balls. We hold weekly classes at Blanchelande College on Wednesday evenings from 7.00pm - 9.00pm, with a summer break during July and August. The first part is aimed at beginners or less experienced dancers. The cost is £4. During the latter part, the more experienced dancers enjoy more complex dances. Cost is £5.
